Graduate Training Programme

Our two-phase graduate training programme is designed to support your development from graduate trainee to fully contributing team member.

During Phase One you will undertake a series of placements across our business to gain experience within the different environments in which we operate and an understanding of our overall business operations.

While in Phase Two you will continue your professional development and become an integral part of a team, improving your expertise and knowledge within a specific area of our business, while building on your job role and professional competence.


Graduate Training & Development

Your individual training plan will consist of a combination of the following key elements:

-       On-job training, where you will have the opportunity to contribute and add value to live projects;

-       Continuous academic learning.  All engineering and science graduates attend the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, to study an industry specific Postgraduate Certificate in Power Plant Engineering.  Whereas our business and commercial graduates will be advised on the most suitable qualification for their individual career path;

-       Achievement of professional recognition, such as CEng status, through a structured approach to providing evidence of your development and level of professional competence in relation to the relevant competence framework for your field, we can support your route to chartered status;

-       External courses, including the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board's Supervisory Management Training & Development Scheme, which leads to a professional management qualification; and

-       Any additional training to support the use of software packages, equipment or enhance technical or soft skills will be arranged as required. 


Application Process

We are interested in recruiting graduates who are proactive and ambitious with a professional attitude.  Working as a graduate trainee with Doosan Power Systems you will be expected to deliver solutions and contribute to the teams you work in; so you must be able to demonstrate integrity, self motivation, initiative and excellent communication skills. 

Typically vacancies for both engineering and business & commercial graduate roles are advertised from October each year.  Speculative interest can be registered by visiting our website. 

The minimum entrance requirement is a 2:2 honours degree qualification in relevant disciplines, as advertised.

Your application will be reviewed to ensure that it meets the minimum criteria for the role and that you have successfully answered all questions.

Successful applicants will be invited to a one-day assessment centre and will take part in activities such as psychometric testing, individual presentation, competency-based interview and a group exercise.  The outcome of the assessment centre will determine which candidates will be offered a position on our graduate training programme.
