PwC offers record level of graduate opportunity

PwC, the professional services firm, has increased its number of graduate opportunities to 1450, a 30% increase on the number of roles offered last year. The record level of graduate roles reflects the growth of PwC's business and the critical role of graduates in driving growth.

There are new graduate roles on offer in PwC offices across the UK in tax, assurance, actuarial, legal, consulting and advisory practices, as well as in technology roles where trainees work in information security and system testing. The biggest increase will be in the firm's consulting practice which is doubling the number of graduate roles and in the assurance practice which will see a 19% rise in graduate opportunities.

Gaenor Bagley, PwC head of people, said:

"We held our nerve through the downturn and maintained our graduate recruitment levels in a tough economic environment. This has positioned us well for a return of market confidence. Our ambitious recruitment plans this year reflect our confidence in our growth, and the role we see graduates playing in delivering that growth.

"PwC offers fantastic opportunities for women to start their careers. I am particularly pleased to see that the investment we have made in increasing the number of female graduates who want to join us has paid off. The proportion of female graduate hires has been increasing year on year and so far this year is 4% up on last year."

The firm has filled 50% of its graduate roles for Spring and Autumn 2014. With around 700 roles still available the second recruitment campaign for this university year 2013/14, gets underway shortly, with employability skills, commercial awareness sessions, and career coaching on offer to students online, in local offices and on campus.

Richard Irwin, PwC head of student recruitment, said:

"Talented Graduates are the lifeblood of our business and we know we can only continue to attract the best students by offering them the best opportunities. This year we've created the largest ever number of jobs for graduates across the firm. These opportunities are open to talented students from every degree subject and across the UK.

PwC has been voted the Times Top Graduate Employer for an unprecedented tenth year in a row and is one of the UK's largest private sector graduate recruiters. Across all student programmes the firm will recruit around 2,500 students to full time, internship and work experience roles. The firm has pioneered new approaches to recruitment and assessment including school leaver qualifications, sponsored degree programmes and offering the first Higher Apprenticeship in professional services
