SKEMA Business School to offer DBA in Project Management
With more than 25 years of expertise in Project and Programme Management, SKEMA Business School is to expand its portfolio of programmes by opening the first Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) in Project and Programme Management.
The new international DBA, opening in October 2014, will be offered on a part-time basis for a maximum of 4 years. Taught entirely in English, it is aimed at senior managers who wish to deepen their knowledge of Project Management, develop their analytical skills and conduct research activities in the field, while maintaining their professional activity.
Overseen by an advisory board of experts in Project Management, the DBA complies with international standards. It alternates courses with research seminars and study tours to SKEMA’s different campuses around the world (France, China, USA) and each student is mentored by a supervisor.
The DBA leads to higher managerial positions (senior managers) and as Project Management is a highly cross-disciplinary expertise, graduates can work in all sectors and in all sizes of business. There is currently no other DBA of this kind in the world.
To apply, candidates must be qualified at the Masters level, have at least 5 years management experience and possess a strong motivation and ability to conduct research.
Alongside this professionalizing DBA, participants who want to do pure research and work towards an academic career can apply to do SKEMA’s PhD in Project and Programme Management. This international full-time PhD is offered in partnership with the University of Lille 2.
For over 25 years, SKEMA has invested very heavily in Project Management. The school offers dedicated programmes at Masters level (MSc, MS), MBA and PhD, and organizes the annual doctoral seminar, Eden, which brings together doctoral researchers and teachers from all over the world.
SKEMA has strong links with national and international professional associations in the project management field, especially in terms of the development of international standards and research. It is accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI - USA) which makes it the only school in France to be certified GAC and REP (Exam Centre). SKEMA also edits the International Journal of Project Management published by IPMA/ Elsevier. Laurence Lecoeuvre, Director of the Project Management Department and her team of faculty are regularly involved in activities and events organized by the PMI (North and South Branches).
