Veolia Environnement supports global commitment to promote safety and health at work
A leading environmental management company is the latest signatory to the Seoul Declaration, which gives employees the right to work in a safe and healthy environment.

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the International Labour Organization (ILO) by Antoine Frérot, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Veolia Environnement, witnessed by Mr Moussa Oumaru, Director of the ILO’s Governance and Tripartism Department, and Mr Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, Secretary-General, International Social Security Association (ISSA).
The Seoul Declaration on Safety and Health at Work was adopted at the Safety and Health Summit held on 29 June 2008 during the XVIII World Congress on Safety and Health at Work), which was attended some 50 high-level decision-makers from around the world.
The Declaration constitutes a major new blueprint for promoting occupational safety and health globally as a societal responsibility. The Summit was organized jointly by ILO, ISSA and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA).
It calls for a preventative safety and health culture - respected at all national levels - which gives employees the right to work in a safe and healthy environment. The signatories of the Seoul Declaration commit to actively participate in the securing of a safe and healthy working environment through a system of defined rights, responsibilities and duties, where the principle of prevention is accorded the highest priority.
