The Hanken Executive MBA programme has been re-accredited by the international Association of MBAs (AMBA). The accreditation is considered the most prestigious international accreditation for MBA programmes. Only three MBA programmes in Finland have been awarded the AMBA accreditation, of which Hanken was the second one with its first accreditation in 2008.
- The accreditation is a sign of continued trust in the delivery and development of the Hanken Executive MBA programme and ensures both participants and alumni that the programme meets the highest international standards when it comes to programme design, content and support, says Programme Director Annika Vatanen.
Hanken was particularly praised for its solid financial position and the world class research output of the faculty. The high level of commitment shown by faculty and staff, who oversee a smooth study experience for all participants, was also considered outstanding. Furthermore, student expectations and feedback were considered to be remarkably well taken into consideration in the course outline.
- The basis for the programme will continue to rely on the research strengths of Hanken and the accreditation offers us a tool for future development, says Rector Eva Liljeblom.
- The upcoming programme will already be even more comprehensive both with regard to practical managerial relevance and contact hours. We will also continue working in small interactive groups where the participants can learn from each other, says Vatanen.
The Hanken Executive MBA participants were found to have successful corporate careers and to be very enthusiastic about their experience. The panel especially commended the remarkable gender diversity, which stands out in comparison to other similar European MBA programmes.
The decision to reaccredit the Hanken Executive MBA was made by AMBA's International Accreditation Advisory Board (IAAB). IAAB’s decision was based on the recommendations of an accreditation panel, consisting of both academic members from other European universities as well as AMBA staff, who visited Hanken in March and met programme faculty, students and alumni.
International accreditations are increasingly important for business schools both in Finland and internationally. A prestigious accreditation is viewed as a sign that research, teaching and contacts with the business community are of a high international standard. In addition to the AMBA-accreditation Hanken is EQUIS accredited by EFMD since 2000.
