The National Law Fair

The University of Law’s National Law Fair 2013 will take place on Wednesday, June 26 at its London Moorgate Centre.

The National Law Fair is open to current and prospective University of Law (ULaw) students and has become an annual event, running for 10 years. It provides the UK’s leading law firms with the opportunity to meet the next generation of legal services professionals of the highest calibre.

This year’s fair will be attended by nearly 40 law firms, including DLA Piper UK, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Irwin Mitchell and Mishcon de Reya. The event gives them access to well over 500 top-class students who are either already studying at ULaw or about to join the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) programmes. For the first time this year, students from ULaw’s newly launched LL.B undergraduate law degree programme will also attend.

The fair equips law students with valuable guidance on how to prepare and conduct themselves for a future career in law, with information and tips supplied by the fair’s exhibitors and ULaw’s specialist career service.  The University of Law graduates have a highly successful track record in securing employment opportunities and 89% of 2011/12 LPC graduates from the university are currently employed in legal work.

Commenting on the National Law Fair 2013, Professor Nigel Savage, President and Provost, The University of Law said: "As the world’s largest professional law school, it is essential that we create events such as this, which allow our students and prospective students to meet some of the UK’s top law firms. Enhancing the employment prospects of our students is one of our top priorities. The National Law Fair is the perfect platform for legal services providers to connect with some of the country’s best new talent.

"A career in legal services can be very rewarding and is currently the third largest employment sector in the City of London. Our Moorgate centre is a good example, where at least 31% of our 2012/13 students are set to earn a minimum of £61,500 upon qualification and £68,500 with one year's post-qualification experience.

"Despite the challenging economic backdrop the number of job opportunities in the City’s legal services sector has risen by 6.3% in the last 12 months. The sector has one of the highest salary profiles when compared to other professions and law firms are also providing more paid internships and work experience placements this year than many other professions.”
