Reims Management School and the Politecnico di Milano have combined their expertise to create a new master in luxury management to be launched at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year. The programme will be taught in both France and Italy.
A 12-month full-time programme taught entirely in English, the International Master in Luxury Management has been designed in close collaboration with professionals from leading and internationally-renowned luxury brands such as L’Oréal Luxe, Taittinger, Rémy Martin, Interparfums, Kempinski, Le Printemps, La Maison du Chocolat, etc.
"Luxury brands increasingly need trained, professional managers who not only understand the new global context, but also who possess excellent design skills, outstanding craftsmanship, the ability to deliver a unique customer experience through interaction and create deeper meaning through branding,” said programme director Emmanuelle Rigaud-Lacresse.
These specialized skills are not usually covered by traditional general management programmes. Reims Management School jointly developed the programme with the Politecnico di Milano to develop expert managers in the luxury industry that can be employed in the key functions of luxury goods companies.
The programme deals with the creation and management of value throughout the value chain of a luxury organisation. Students will have the opportunity to be in touch with key players in the luxury industry and gain hands-on knowledge of the major aspects of luxury management through active learning and project work.
The programme consists of three semesters. The first, held in Reims from September to December, aims to offer a general overview of the competitive structure and the business models of the luxury sector. This part comprises a wide range of subjects including the fundamentals of management, luxury management, luxury branding, marketing and an overview of the luxury market.
The second part of the programme, based both in Reims and Milan, will explore luxury value management in detail, with the purpose of illustrating the key processes involved in value creation and delivery, as well as strategic asset management in a luxury company.
Project work will take place throughout the first and second semesters, which will give students the opportunity to gain a practical approach to relevant issues in managing luxury companies.
The final part of the programme consists of an optional internship and the completion of the project work.
At the end of the programme, students will gain a double degree: an MSc from RMS and a specialized master degree from the Politecnico di Milano.
Graduates are expected to fill a wide range of positions thanks to the cross-disciplinary dimension of the programme, covering all the departments of a company such as Product Manager, Project Development Manager, Merchandising Manager, Purchaser, Management Controller, Supply Chain Specialist, Packaging and Development Manager, etc.
